PD Attendance Policy

Practice Debate Attendance Policy

All delegates will receive points for attending each PD session.

Our dates for this year are

- PD1 : 31st January 2026

- PD2: 7th February 2026

- PD3: 8th February 2026

Points will not be awarded for any missed sessions. Our policy of requiring attendance at all three PD days for delegates to be eligible for awards has been a primary consideration with the PDs.

Exceptions

  • While we intend to uphold this policy, we recognise that unavoidable scheduling conflicts, such as exams or other pre-planned events, may arise. Therefore, delegates will be excused from a PD day if they provide valid reasoning for their absence. This reasoning must be supported by a note from a relevant authority, such as a faculty advisor, head of school, doctor, or relevant government body, if necessary. The note should be emailed to a member of the Secretariat. The Secretariat will review submitted evidence and circumstances to determine eligibility for awards and participation certificates at its discretion.

  • While we are allowing exceptions, we strongly encourage full participation in the PDs. These sessions are an integral part of the conference experience and significantly contribute to the quality of the debate and the overall success of the event. Furthermore, PD attendance will impact conference awards and recognition. Our goal is to ensure that every delegate has an equal opportunity to excel and to enrich the overall COMUN experience.

Recognition and Award Ilegability

  • Recognition for conference awards is based on attendance and performance. If a delegate misses PD1 or PD2, their recognition during the conference will be reduced. Attending only one PD will similarly impact recognition, though to a lesser degree. However, if a delegate performs exceptionally well at the conference, the system will recognise and boost their performance, improving their recognition.

  • Delegates who miss PD1 or all PDs will be required to introduce themselves in the Committee Group Chat with their names, schools, and committee allocation to ensure transparency regarding their participation in the conference.
